Tucson Gem and Mineral Show

Look for me at the fluorescent tent, main exhibit hall.

I will be meeting with FMS members and miners from over a dozen different countries and hand picking specimens to be offered on this site.

I will be in the "Turf Club Room". Signs will be posted and if you are unsure just ask at the Gem and Mineral Exhibit information desk for directions or check in the fair's program guide for a map.

FIELD TRIPS

Join us for a late afternoon / evening and enjoy a wonderful collecting adventure at the Princess Pat Mine. We will be digging for garnets before the sun sets. Then the real fun begins as we collect multi-color fluorescent minerals. Send me an e mail for time, directions and meeting place information. This trip is open to all those who wish to collect and meet new friends.

2006 Booth Rancho Bernardo Winery Show

Join us again this year at the Rancho Bernardo Winery as the San Diego Lapidary Society hosts a MINERAL, GEM and JEWELRY show at this wonderful location. This is a picturesque location with a rustic, casual atmosphere and space for over 75 dealers. With craft shops, restaurant, food booths, live music and a on site glass blower/fabricator as well as a tasting room for the many varieties of wine offered by the winery there is fun to be had here for everyone.

Fluorescent minerals and lamps will be on display and available for purchase.

Awarded in 2004 for the "Best Case" of minerals from world wide locations.

These minerals represented a small fraction of my personal collection.

Denver, Colorado Gem and Mineral Show

I was a host / exhibitor as well as a lecturer on the fluorescent response of minerals in conjuction with the Fluorescent Mineral Society. I also assisted in the set up and breakdown of displays. I continued with these activities at the Denver Show from 1999, 2000 and 2001. I no longer display there due to the almost total destruction of minerals I shipped via the US Postal Service in 2001.

San Diego County Fair Gem and Mineral Competition

I began exhibiting at the San Diego County Fair in 2002. The top blue ribbon is the first place award for "Fluorescent Mineral Exhibit".

The red ribbons to the left are the 2003 second place awards for "Minerals from World Wide Locations" and "Fluorescent Mineral Exhibit".

I decided that to win an award I should show minerals from my personal collection. So, in 2004, I displayed a case of "World Wide Minerals" (trophy pictured above). I also entered and won first place for "Best Single Mineral" (blue ribbon), second place for "Best Single Mineral" (red ribbon and a different mineral) and third place for "Fluorescent Mineral Exhibit".

Due to time constraints, I only entered one case in competition for 2005. I received a first place award for that case.
